Can InfoPath be used for process management?

We use infopath at my company for some simple forms and such, but I want to
use to create and manage processes.

For example, I want to be able to create a process where a project manager
starts a project and assigns tasks to developers, QA, etc. All project
douments would be attached to this form, and all work done on the project
would be recorded here as well so that anyone can see what has been done,
what is being done, and what will be done.

Ideally I'd want to be able to have infopath automatically inform
stakeholders in the project when they need to do something.

Can infopath support this?

kgabbert,
Although you could probably contort InfoPath to do this I would probably
recommend using something like SharePoint in conjuction with InfoPath to
manage these types of proceses.

We use InfoPath and SharePoint, but how would I use them together for process
management? What would sharepoint provide that InfoPath is lacking?

Try to think of InfoPat managing smaller processes rather than one big
process, Internally we have used InfoPath as a way of managing things like
code reviews, and testscripts. Now obviously this is more specific to a
development project.
I would suggest rather than saying I have 1 InfoPath form for each project
look at the processes that each project needs to undertake, and create
workflow solutions for each.

Now creating these workflows in InfoPath 2003 is a little limited without a
Biztalk or K2 to help with the shuffling of data, and nofications.

With 2007 this changes as a lot of the workflow included in SharePoint can
handle this

Cheers
