can not delete messages

I can not delete email messages. I receive the following when I attempt to
delete a message from my inbox " folder is full". I have 2613 messages in my
inbox.

When I try to delete messages from the Deleted Folder I receive the
following error "The messaging interface has retured an unknown error. If the
problem persist, restart outlook. I have 1225 messages in my deleted folder.

I'm using Outlook 2007 (12.0.6316) SP1 MSO (12.0.6213.1000) with Windows XP.
