Can Not Delete Recurring Appointment

WinXP Home; Office 2003; ActivSync 3.71; IPAQ 2210 PDA
1-reminder screen pops up with a recurring appointment
2-I highlight the reminder and click "Dismiss"
3-Error message appears: Microsoft Office Outlook: "Cannot turn off the
reminder. You may be reminded again. Could not complete the operation.
One or more parameter values are not valid."
4-Click "OK"
5-Also get the following Activsync error: Activsync Error: "The following
recurring appointment cannot be written to Microsoft Outlook due to error
80180F01. The item will be skipped." Recurring Appointment; Aspire Class;
Start: 9/12/2004 6:00 PM; End: 9/12/2004 7:00 PM"

Are these two errors related? How do I eliminate them. I've been getting
them since September.
