Can not open multiple spreadsheets in Excel 2002

Michael

Hi,
I currently have a client with an Excel isse which i
inconsistant.

As a bit of a background ...
The OS is W2KPro with all the latest updates
Excel is Excel 2002, with the latest SP applied.

The issue:
When the user opens x number of spreadsheet(i.e. 4), the
5th spreadsheet won't load or open ... no error messages.

Has anyone seen this before? I'm suspecting it's a memory
issue (although the system hs 256MB RAM). Also suspecting
that he may have too many apps open and this is causing
issues??

Can anyone provide any guidance ?

Many thanks
Mike

What happens if she cold boots the machine, opens NO OTHER APPS except for
the background stuff (antivirus, etc), and tries opening more than x
spreadsheets?

256 mb RAM these days is not much .... would look at upgrading to min 512
recommend 1gig

Have client also clean out Temp internet files and Temp Directories. Have seen
these areas cause problems in performance.

How big are worksheets, how complicated and is she opening files or actually
running excel multiple times?

Oooh...forgot about that one. It's a common sin that should be punishable by
something.
