hello,

this is extremely similar to a thread from last year that had no published resolution:

Since we got office 2008 (back in 2008) we've consistently received print crash problems. We have three printers on our network HP 4200, HP 4250 and Xerox DocuColor 242. Even if I try to Print to PDF from the print dialogue box, the crash still occurs. I just don't get it. It can't be print driver specific. No other apps on my computer experience the same problem. It's a PowerPoint-based print function that seriously needs to be resolved. We've avoided rolling out Office 2008 specifically because of the print stability issue that my pilot test of people have continued to experience. Is there a fix in the nearby future?

By the way, Powerpoint 2004, Word 2008, Excel 2008, and Entourage 2008 have no such issues, therefore, it seriously brings me to the conclusion that PowerPoint 2008 is not performing proper print checks when prepping the file for a printer.

we experiencing the same issue:

PowerPoint 2008 crashes when printing. Is there a resolution?

we are conncting via IP/|LPD. Here is the error log:

Hello,

There are 5 open threads on this forum dealing with printing crashes using the Xerox 242 or 252 printers.

We are using an EFI Fiery external rip and the Fiery EX260 Color Server PS driver. Are any other users with this printing issue using a similar setup?

In thread

http://www.officeformac.com/ms/ProductForums/PowerPoint/2346/0

Bob Jones, Office:Mac MVP, suggests the issue is with the Xerox driver. The Fiery EX260 Color Server PS driver came out in May of 2007. Office 2008 was released in January of 2008. It appears, IMHO, that something changed in PowerPont 2008 that breaks printing using the EFI driver.

I would like to advise our studios to upgrade to Office 2008 but, using Office 2004 seems to be the only viable solution at this time.

The print to pdf and then print to the color printers does not work in an environment that charges clients $100/hr for designers time.

Is there any chance the Microsoft MBU will be working with EFI to get this resolved anytime in the near future?

Thanks to everyone on this forum.
