Can not reinstall/run Office 2000 Pro!!

S

Sheldon Smith

Recently, when I tried to down load a patch from the
Windows Update web-site, my computer crashed upon install
of the service pack. I was eventually able to reboot my
computer, and restore the majority of my system's
files/information. Unfortunately, I lost Microsoft
Office; the folders and icons are still there, but the
files are inaccessable!! When I try to run anything from
the Office folder the message shows: "This application
must be installed to run. Please run setup from the
location where you origionally installed this application".

That creates another problem with in itself because, as of
late, when I try to install any Microsoft related
programs on my computer, I receive the following
message: "The Windows Installer service could not be
accessed. This can occour if you are running in safe mode,
or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
Contact your support personnel for assistance."

I am 100% certain that my computer is not running in safe
mode. Likewise, when I try to reinstall 'Windows
Installer' from the Windows Update web-site, I get the
following message: "ERROR - This service already exists on
this computer".

Furthermore, I've tryed disableing 'Windows Installer', as
well as starting it manually but I receive the following
message: "Could not start the Windows Installer service on
Local Computer. ERROR 5-Access denied".

So basically I'M REALLY STUCK, and I don't know what to
do?!? I need to fix WINDOWS INSTALLER, as well as tend to
my MS OFFICE problem. Any assistance or trouble-shooting
advice that anyone might provide is truley appreciated!!
Thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
MR. Smith
