can not see pasted picture from word file?

I have a Dell desktop with Windows XP with Word 2002 running on it running
for three years already. Word worked fine before, but it has problem now on
pasting picures. I cannot see any pasted picture from the word file. After
I paste a picture, nothing is visible, and if I highlight the position where
I just pasted the picture in the word file, all I can see is a very tiny
"pasted" fram with nothing in it! And there is nothing visible either in the
"print preview" page. Pictures in previously saved files displayed just fine.
I have tried running the Office repair, but that didn't make any difference.
I need to be able to paste screen shots into Word for documentation and
troubleshooting. How do I fix this? Please help!

A few things to try:
1. In Word, if you're working in Normal view, switch to Print
Layout view (View | Print Layout), because objects that are
formatted as "float over text" (Word 97) or as something other
than "inline with text" (Word 2002 and 2003) are not visible in
Normal view.
2. In Word, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the
"Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print
tab | check the "Drawing objects" box | OK.
3. If neither of the previous suggestions fixes the problem,
then try reducing the hardware acceleration setting in Start |
Control Panel | Display | Advanced | Troubleshooting. If this
fixes the problem, then you might want to check the website of
the manufacturer of your video card/graphics adapter to see if
there is an updated driver available.

Thank you for the help information! I tried your suggestion 1 and 2 but the
result is still the same. I wanted to try the third one, but it's strage
that in my PControl Panel|Display, there is no Advanced page/tab hence the
Troubleshooting page/tab either. Why is this?
regarding the driver update, just wanted to know why the word was ok for
pasted picture but not ok now? Pictures in previous saved files are
displayed just fine and no any problem. BUt I tried to paste picture again
into the previously saved files, it doean't work either. Is this really the
video card/graphics adaptor driver problem? And how should I find out who is
the manufacturer of the card? Thanks!

I have the same problem. go to format picture, choose 3-D format, then at "Contour", choose color as white, and size 1pt, all set.
