Can pictures be saved at 600dpi as default?

Hi,
I use publisher 2003 for ads and on our brochures for the company.
I sometimes save the ads as a picture but the default resolution for the
commercial printing is 300dpi. Can i somehow change this resolution to 600dpi
or is that not possible?
