Can Pro and Server (2002) be installed in the same machine?

Hi

I have a high-end notebook, I want to test and learn
Project Pro with Project Server, so I need the Pro and
Server to be installed in my notebook. Can I install them
in the same machine?

My notebook is a Windows Server 2003 (Simp. Chinese) with
Office 2003 installed. (Do I need to uninstall Office 2003
and reinstall Office XP Chinese version? Because I am
going to install Chinese version of Project Pro and Server
2002 )

Thanks for any advise

yes you can have them on the same machine. That is no problem. with
that OS you will not be able to look at the WSS stuff (Issues, risks
and documents).

Im not sure about the reinstall of Office. It 'should' be fine but it
might cause issues if the office 2003 version of some dlls are not
compatable with Project 2002.

Hi Brian,

Can you explain WHY its isn't possible to run the docs, issues, etc on this
config. I assume you refer to SharePoint Team Services ?

So does that mean STS won't run on Windows 2003 Server ?

Thanks

Gary

Huang:

You can run Project Pro 2002 and Project Server 2002, with STS 1.0, on a
Windows Server 2003. I think what Brian was saying applied to Project Server
2003, which requires WSS (the service formerly known as STS), which, in
turn, requires Windows Server 2003.

My mistake. I was thinking about Project Server 2003 and 2002 at the
same time and answered wrong. 2002 should work on Windows 2003.

Even with i.v. coffee delivery, this is going to be challenging.

I think it will be alright. His post was very clear about the version
to which he was referring. It was just me that messed up. :)

Hi
Two professionals. Thanks for your reply.
In my environment (windows 2003, office 2003), there is
only one error while installing MPS 2002. That is a dll
under c:\Program Files\Common Files\....(I cannot remember
exactly) can not be regeistered.

I have not install Pro 2002 on my computer, I will try
later on.

Thanks again

STS can and will run on Windows 2003 Server
I have done it. It is pretty straight forward provided
certain items are taken into consideration.

By this I mean in order for Project Server 2002 to be
configured correctly in a 2003 Server environment, IIS
and ASP must be turned on and configured. IIS 6.0 must be
configured to use IIS 5.0 isolation mode. (This is
necessary since STS was developed to take advantage of
fucntionality that is inherent in IIS 5.0. Activating the
isolation mode in IIS 6.0 will permit/enable STS to use
the IIS 5.0 sessions and components in IIS 6.0.)

Additional steps are necessary for STS. I would suggest
doing this manually (Vanilla sharepoint)
