Dear all:

Our user would like use Project 2003 pro in out of the company.
He can't use PWA, so does Project 2003 pro support this function?

PS: this user won't come back to the office.

Many thanks for your reply!

Hi,

If I understand your question, you want to know if it's possible to Project
2003 to log to project Server and acces his project files enven if his not
connected to the office network.

Yes it's possible. I do it actually. I'm at the office and I can access my
projects at home. However, you have to be aware of the security because you
have to open a port to access the SQL Server (port 1433). Also, it's not
very fast.

Hope this helps

Hugues

If the Office has a Terminal Server, this is the most secure and will
maxamize performance. The user will log into the terminal server an
use Project Pro installed on the terminal server. Citrix will also
work.

You can use VPN conection from home (Internet) to your work. This is better than opening an SQL access Port and its more secure.

Many thanks for your reply!

As I know that Outlook 2003 can access Exchange via RPC over HTTPS.
But looks like Project 2003 still need to open SQL port.

Thank you!

Terminal service is a good solution, too.

But I still hope Project 2003 can have the function like Outlook 2003 RPC
over HTTPS.

Thank you!

Terminal Services is actually the solution that is recommended by
Microsoft for this situation. Opening 1433 would be a VERY bad idea for
security reasons. Good Luck
