Can Project perform global changes?

I'm a 15 year Primavera user now being asked to convert to Project. I had
three questions concerning Project: 1)Can one perform global tasks in
Project, such as assigning resources, updating code fields, etc. 2) Is there
a "Fill Cell" option in Project where one can highlight a field in the first
selected activity and "fill the cells" with identical values to the last
activity chosen. 3) Can project quickly calculate projects in the 7000
activity range, or will the performance be sluggish? I schedule in a Power
Plant environment where we typically have ~7000 activities in ~30 day
schedule. --

Hi,

1) Yes. Select Tasks then assign or edit via Task Information dialog and
changes made to all selected tasks

2) Yes. Either drag the fill handle (bottom right corner of cell or hold
Ctrl key down and select cells (in same column) below. You can only select
up to 10 different areas I think, but each area can have many cells). Press
Ctrl+D to fill down.

3) I've played with 10,000 tasks and provided you are using a modern CPU
2GHZ or above and 1GB memory or more performance is crisp. If you have so
many links that performance is too slow, you can set calculation to manual
(Tools, Options) whilst editing then reset to Automatic or press F9 to
recalculate on demand.

I have helped schedule a number of plant shutdowns with a lot of tasks and
Project has no problems doing what's needed.
