Can Project "See" more than one server database?

I would like to be able to develop aspects of Project on a non-live system,
particularly when they will involve changes to global properies. It is quite
simple to make a copy of our sequel server database and rename it - is there
any way that I can access this database without taking down the whole network
or mounting it on a separate machine?

Thanks Dale - We have used the tool to create an additional instance of
Project Server but cannot get it to "see" the copy of the database. When
doing the creation we get an error message Cannot Connect to Project Server
database on PROJECT\DEVELOPMENT server. Do you wish to continue site
creation. Clicking yes gets us our site and we can access it OK but it
cannot see the database. Any ideas as to what we might be doing wrong?
