Can PWA updates be carried through to show task completion in Project?

R

Rob

Our project managers receive task updates daily if not
more frequently. We require team members to update the
hours remaining on their tasks. If an update of zero
hours remaining is made it indicates the task is
complete. Even if the project manager accepts this update
the task is not marked complete in the project plan. If
the hours remaining column is displayed in the project
plan it accurately displays zero hours remaining but the
task is not marked as complete.

Has anyone solved this problem? (Maybe with a macro they
are willing to share)

Thanks

I think you folks may have disabled a project option that will show the task
% Complete at 100% when the resource sets the Remaining Work to 0 hours
(which sets the % Work Complete value to 100%). Please check this option
for me by completing these steps:

1. Open any project in which the % Complete is not calculating
automatically
2. Click Tools - Options and select the Calculation tab
3. Make sure the "Updating task status updates resource status" option is
SELECTED
4. Click OK

Any tasks that have been completed will still need to be manually set to
100% complete, but the above settings will automatically calculate the %
Complete based on the numbers the team member submits on uncompleted tasks
to their project manager. Let me know if this helps. If it does, you will
need to make sure that your PM's enable this setting in EVERY project and
you will need to ask your Project Server administrator to enable the setting
in every enterprise template as well.

Another option is to insert the field "% Work Complete".
This will accurately reflect the status of the work
performed. "% Complete" reflects the duration completion
and may not reflect 100% if the work did not consume the
entire baseline duration.
