Can Runtime 2000 coexist with 2007

Hi,

We have upgraded our 4 office PC's to run Office 2007. The migration has
been somewhat turbulent.

We have a commercial database which we pay $1,000pa for the use of it. The
developer, according to him, only has less than a handful of clients who use
2007. His work around is for us to run Runtime 2000.

When we use Runtime 2000, whenever we want to use 2007, 2007 goes through an
installation routine. If we then want to use the commercial database, we have
to "repair" Runtime 2000 so that it can open properly. Doing the "repair"
then means we have to go through the 2007 installation routine again! And so
the cycle continues!!

Can anyone advise how to get Runtime 2000 and Access 2007 to coexhist?

Regards

The developer should get off his butt and ensure his app uses A2007.

1) It likely isn't much work. Any such work required can be done in
the A2000 version. Thus he only needs to convert the FE MDB to A2007
format and make an ACCDE. Then distribute that version.

2) the runtime is free. The developer no longer needs to spend $500
or $600 on it. Microsoft Office Access 2007 Developer Edition FAQ

3) more of his clients will be running A2007 as time goes on.

Office 2007 SP1 speeds up that installation process but no there is no
way to avoid the problem.

I am surprised your developer can't help you with this. Microsoft has made it
easier to migrate from ACCESS 2000 to 2007 with ACCESS Runtime. All he has to
do is deliver you a A2007 runtime version based on A2000 format. Runtime is
free but the developer must have a licensed version of A2007. If he can;t do
it, I will be able to do it as I have been migrating from A2000 to A2007 .
