Can someone explain the diff of ASP, PHP, CSS and HTML

Can someone explain the difference of ASP, PHP, CSS and HTML. I know about
HTML and what it does, but I am a little confused about the others and any
others that I have not mentioned. Consider me a newbie in that area. I
just want to know what it is and what the Pros and Cons of each. Or you can
direct me to websites that would explain the difference.

ASP and PHP are server side script languages to process your web pages, requiring hosts that support them
CSS is Cascading Style Sheets
- used to format your HTML and separate format from content
HTML is the markup language for your content
For a simple example of how to use CSS w/ HTML in FP apply a Theme using the CSS option (styles) to your FP Web content (HTML)

Ok, I would like to know the main uses for those listed. My understanding
is that CGI is "Application-Driven" and PHP is script. But I want to know
what are the common uses for each of ASP, PHP, CGI, CSS, and others. I am
learning the basics and want to have some basic understanding of what goes
on in the background. Also, what type of languages would database/SQL would
be classified?

Also: I don't understand the concept of CSS and the use for it versus HTML?
