Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The
set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file
C:\Users\EricMersch/AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook
and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool
(Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information
about the Inbox repair tool, see help.

So did you run scanpst.exe against your data file? on whatever version of
Outlook you use

This error isn't caused by Vista. It indicates there are errors in your mail
store (PST). Did you follow the instructions and scan your PST file?

Do a file/folder search for scanpst.exe and double-click it when located.
Follow the instructions which will include browsing to the location of your
PST file, the filepath that you have indicated in your original post. Make
sure that you are able to view hidden files/folders since your PST is
hidden. You can enable this feature using Windows Explorer (Tools > Folder
Options > Files). These instructions are not exact since I'm not using Vista
but they should be relatively similar.

Scan the PST file and allow it to repair any errors it finds, then scan it
again. If it continues to find errors, scan until none are found. When you
have completed a full scan with no errors, quit scanpst.exe and open Outlook
again.
