Hello, I was wondering if someone can tell me how to
restore default settings to the microsoft outlook window?
In other words, I used to have the "contacts" right
below "folder list", which were all to the left of my
messages in the inbox window.
I would like to put the contacts again below the folder
list. By mistake, I had pressed x and the contacts went
in another location.
Thank you in advance.

I think you mean Outlook Express, not outlook... look on the Views menu -
select layout and choose contacts.

Hello, Diane
Is there a way of reestablishing default settings on the
layout of the outlook window?
Also, which do you think is better, Outlook Express or
Outlook?

Thank you.

To answer your other post, Outlook doesn't have a contacts window below the
folder list... see help, about for your version.

As for which is better, it really depends on *your* needs. Do you need a
simple email program or a full featured personal information manager that
does calendar, tasks and such. Outlook is better and more powerful, but it's
overkill for a large number of people.

To restore Outlook to the default, delete outcmd.dat, usually found as a
hidden file in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can easily access it by pasting
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the Address bar of your
browser or Windows Explorer. FAV or XML can also be deleted to restore the
Outlook bar/Navigation pane.

I have no idea for OE, except using the view manu- the experts for OE are at
