Can you control how word exports images when saving a document as html?

When I save a document as an html file some of the images are exported as
..png and others are exported as .jpg files. I would like to control that
so that all images are .jpg. I don't know if this is possible.

I also don't know why or how word chooses the format in the first place. I
hypothesize that images that are added to the document by the copy and paste
method are stored as .png files while those that are added from image files
retain whatever format they were when imported.

Can any body verify this?
