Can you insert a share point data view into a web page?

I'm a "N e w b i e" but I have both a Share Point service account and a website that I'm working on with FP2003. My understanding is that Share Point Sites can't be searched by web search engines. If that is so, can a "data view" from a Share Point site be inserted into a web page as a web component where it will be updated by it's orginator more easily and pretty much in real time, yet be "searchable" by the search engines?

Please advise. Thanks!

A SharePoint site is searchable by search engines as long as the site
doesn't requires login access and all links to content are available from
the home page and also you have short querystings
(?t=something&y=something).

A DataView is a WebPart. WebParts require SharePoint to operate.
