Can you insert the same bookmark more than once in a Word doc?

I have the same bookmark included in a document twice, but I can only get one
of them to work. If I use Ctrl to highlight them both, Bookmark is not
available in the dropdown menu. If I add one and then try to add the other,
the brackets that indicate a bookmark are moved from one to the other.
I am using Word 2002 SP3.

By definition, a bookmark is a name for a *single* Range in your document.
So you can't have two with the same name. What are you trying to do?

I am working in a program we purchased that allows us to make Word templates
that use bookmarks to pull in fields from forms previously completed and
static info from the program.
For example, the template might reference a job and I would like to
"bookmark" the job description in more than one place in the template. But I
have only been provided one bookmark in the program documentation for the job
description.

You can insert the information once, bookmark it, and use cross-references
to insert the text elsewhere. Is that what you're looking for?

Yes. This sounds exactly like what I need. However, when I tested it did
not work. I guess the program I am going thru must have some restrictions
placed on me or I am doing something wrong. All I get are the actual cross
references, not the data they represent.
However, I can use Alt+F9 to switch between the field codes and what is
suppose to be the field results.
For example, using Alt+F9 I get PrjName or {REF PrjName}, but not the real
job name.

REF codes do work, so the problem must lie elsewhere. Have you updated the
fields? (select all and press F9).
