Can You Lock Objects In Place?

L

Lukabrazzi

I've been given a Word file with a bar code placed as a graphic on the page
as well as a text box with a Form Number, both of which need to stay exactly
where they are. The document will be passed around for feedback and my
bosses are concerned that these elements might get bumped. Is there a way to
lock these objects in place so that thay can't be inadvertently moved by
anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Lukabrazzi,

If you put both the bar code graphic and text box into the document header or footer, they're less likely to be moved by accident.
You can then make them even harder to move by inserting a continuous Section break at the very start of the page, then using Forms
protection to protect just the first Section of the document. The prottection route might not be desirable, though, since it
restricts the users' ability to access a lot of other formatting tools.
