Can you make Pen Pointer Markings work for PPT XP 2002?

I was reading the posting by Trainer Maker and have the same problem. I
tried going to the link that TOHLZ posted but still don't know how to fix the
problem. Do I need to update my PowerPoint version? If so, then how do I do
that?

I'm pretty sure the ability to save the ink markings was introduced in PPT
2003.
