Can you merge info from excel into shapes or link to file?

I have created a diagram of the cubicles in my office and it would be very
helpful if I could merge the inventory info I have in excel to the indiviual
cubicle location. Maybe I could just create a link to the file for each
cubicle. Is this possible?

you might check over on msdn and do a search on facilities management. there
are a couple of visio examples that cover this sort of issue.
