can you mix single column subreport with multi column subreport?

I'm trying to make a report contains two different formated subreports. One
is with single column and another is with two columns. The problem is 1. when
I use the 2 columns report as the main report, then the 2nd column will
always overlap with the single column subreport (I need the single column
report apeal first); 2. when I use the single column report as the main
report and the two column one as subreport, then the subreport will not
printed as two columns.

Anyone can help? Please!
