Can you recover a document if you hit don't save?

I have an assignment that I did not write a rough draft for, is there
anyway to recover this document if I accidentally hit don't save and
did not have word set up for auto recover?

Even autorecover wouldn't have helped, here. Once you close the
document, the autorecover files get deleted.

If you didn't save the doc, it's gone, I'm afraid...
