Can you turn off automatic text wrapping?

Is there a way to turn off automatic text wrapping? My friends are getting
infuriated by the fact that if I paste an HTML link into an email, it is
line-wrapped after about 76 characters. Then they have to copy and paste
links three separate times to get it to show up in their browsers.

If I turn on HTML, the lines aren't wrapped, but everything looks messy and
terrible, then they complain even more because all the fonts are huge at
their end and small at my end.

My friends are using Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express for Windoze. How
funny is it that three MS products are mutually incompatible with each
other.

BTW I've tried it with Entourage X and Entourage 2004.

Any ideas people? Some sort of funky hack maybe?

Embrace the URL in angle brackets. Then they will be able to click it in
their email client despite the line wrapping. Like this:
<http://www.apple.com>

In Entourage 2004 and in Entourage X after you apply the Office 10.1.6
updater, you should not see font size problems using HTML. You are currently
using Entourage 10.1.0 - update it to 10.1.6 by getting the updater at
MacTopia website. (The change actually came in 10.1.4.)

That seems to work just on the Mac. People on various Windows email clients
- at least in Outlook and Outlook Express - do not have that feature. (OE 6
Windows latest update now has format=flowed, which also solves the problem,
but Entourage - so far - still can't send f=f so that doesn't help David.)

Any fix for line wraps using HTML format? Under HTML, lines do not wrap and
I need to wrap manually, which is a pain.

Write the email in HTML, select all, and then click the Rewrap button in the
toolbar (or Edit/Autotext Cleanup/Rewrap Paragraphs).

This is what I have been doing. Is there any kind of setting that will do
the rewraps automatically, like it does in text format?

P

Paul Berkowitz

No. That's the whole point of HTML - no arbitrary (or even semi-sensible)
limitations of text formatting imposed.

You're honestly saying you object to clicking one button? There's no other
application on any platform that provides this Rewrap (or the other Auto
Text Cleanup) features. Consider yourself lucky that Entourage provides a
simple button for doing what you want.

Sorry, no there isn't.

Mind if I ask why you want to hard wrap the lines? There may be an
alternative...

I prefer the auto-wraps under the "text" format. I find it easier to
read/write/proof when the lines are in shorter sentences, as opposed to
across the entire page (HTML format). I thought this was a common feature on
other email apps, but it looks as if it is not. I think the solution for me
is to use "text" email format. Thanks.
