Cancelling a project

Randy at Carhartt

What's the best way to cancel a project that has hours
associated with it?

We want to leave the project on the server to account for
hours worked, yet we don't want users to think that it
has been completed. The project won't be restarted in
the future (ever).

Thanks!

One of the experts could probably answer this better than me but...

I have used project level enterprise codes/fields to help achieve similar
categorization and filtering before. You could maybe create a code with
values such as completed, in progress, cancelled etc... and then have default
view in the projects center only display the ones flagged as in progress and
completed shown - but cancelled one would still be there, just not
immediately viewable.

There may be a better way though...

One approach I like to use is to cancel all uncompleted tasks by setting the
Remaining Work value to 0 hours for each task, and then to add a note to
each of these tasks indicating that they were cancelled on a particular
date. Once you have done so, click Collaborate - Publish - All Information
to "push" the cancelled task information to PWA. Hope this helps.

And set the Booking type for all resources to Proposed (Project 2003 only).
That way, the project will no longer appear on their timesheet.
