Cannot accept updates to recurring meetings - Outlook 2007

When I receive updates to one occurence of a recurring meeting, I see a
message at the top of the invitation stating "Not Current" with no way to
accept the change. The update can be either a content update for that
specific meeting or a schedule change for that meeting only. Is there any
way to get around this?
