Cannot access word/publisher/power point/excel documents

I recently upgraded to office 2003. Since doing so I cannot acces any files.
I can save them but when I go back to open thme I receive the message "cannot
access file" or "file is not available". I also continue to be asked the
question regarding the global template and the file normal already exists do
I want to change it"?

Anybody!!!Please help, this is driving me INSANE!!!!

Thank you Garfield you saved the last of my sanity.

I have removed the plug-ins but am now a little conceredd about my computers
vulnerability, should I turn this back on or will that put me back in the
same position prior to getting your expert advice?

As explained in the referenced article, you will be protected
against viruses as long as you leave Norton AutoProtect enabled.
The Norton Office Plug-in performs a redundant/duplicate AV
scan of your Office documents.

The only thing the plug-in does that your AutoProtect layer doesn't do
is check Office documents that are password protected for macro
viruses. Otherwise, as Garfield noted, the scan is bit redundant.
