Cannot add second computer successfully

Here's how it is:

I'm currently getting Groove 2007 set up on my machines; a desktop and
laptop, both running Windows Vista (release version). The desktop's Groove
set up and appears (appeared?) to be working without problems; however, on
installing it on the laptop, I've run into an issue.

I saved my account file through "Use Account On Another Computer", and used
that to create the same account on the laptop's installation as an account
on another computer. However, it doesn't appear that this installation is
communicating properly with the desktop's installation (they are both
connected to the same local network), as:

* the workspaces that exist on the desktop are never offered to me to
download onto the laptop;
* nor do contacts that exist in my account on the desktop appear on the
laptop;
* a test workspace created on the laptop is never offered to me on the
desktop;
* and in Preferences, on the Account page, while the laptop knows about the
desktop installation as well as itself, listing them both as "Ready", the
desktop does not list the laptop.

Communications Manager on both installations indicates that they both think
they are "communicating normally", and all activities show a status of
"idle".

In Network Settings on the laptop, various settings (Device Presence
Protocol Server, Device URL, Network Address) exist for both the laptop and
the desktop; on the desktop, each of these only exists once, for itself.

I did note that the Device URL for the desktop was different between the two
machines; the desktop itself thinks this is:

dpp:///fcgvs7qn26peubwd8mku6esgpdm62ctkiqx73f2

whereas the laptop thinks it is:

dpp://s756idq8ny4fkf2ja64hmu8nkgqgwtsuat7569i

Looking into the Network Diagnostics, I'm not entirely certain what I'm
looking for, but I do see occasionally a connection in "Active network
connections" or "Idle network connections" with the IP address of the other
machine (i.e. the desktop on the laptop, or vice versa) in its details.
However, I also see that while the connection on the laptop with the
desktop's IP address uses the Device URL above that the desktop thinks it
has, i.e., dpp://fcgvs7..., the laptop also has a connection under
"Attempting network connections" with the Device URL that the laptop thinks
belongs to the desktop, i.e., dpp://s756id... ; this one has no further
details under it.

Anyone have any ideas as to what this one might be?

Thanks in advance,

Alistair
