Cannot backup

Using windows XP home, Outlook 2000. I utilize Microsoft 'backup'
add-in for Outlook.

Of late Outlook has been a tad finicky. Couple days last week either
couldn't start or frooze when selected an email to view. Started in
safe mode, worked fine after that. Also ran 'detect and repair'...no
problems since. Now when the scheduled backup kicked in receieved
message:

'Cannot copy Outlook: the file or directory is corrupted or
unreadable'

I have deleted the outcmd.dat file but still no luck. The only thing I
have not done is delete the add-in and reinstall it. Any thoughts what
file this might be? Hopefully not the .pst??!!

Your thoughts or recommendations are greatly welcome.

Thxs

The backup file is also a pst file. You can thus open it in OL or run the
inbox repair tool scanpst.exe to examine it.
You might want to run this on both pst's

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the scan found some problems
but each time I try to repair them the program freezes. Any thoughts?

What size is the pst? if greater than 1.5gb can cause problems
You dont have OL open when trying repair? - check yr Apps/running processess
Ensure nothing else is running in the background
See if these help
