restoring Outlook 2003 using a system backup?

I did a system backup, then started reloading all the software to try to
clean up my system. I thought I could restore the Outlook data from the
system backup.

I've taken the system backup file and restored it to an external hard drive.
When I look in the App Data/Microsoft/Outlook folder, there is a file called
"Outlook", but it's an "office data file" not a "personal folder file".

I'm really kicking myself because (of course) there was alot of information
in Outlook I need for work. Now I'm not sure how to restore it.

I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

Hey! I figured it out! I used the website:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP030822101033.aspx
to find where the files should be and what they should be called and also
did a search of my restored files.

When I looked under the restored /mydocuments/user/apps/.../outlook, I saw
an Office Data File named Outlook, but it wasn't very large. When I tried to
open that file using Outlook, it showed up as a .NK2.

So I did a search for .pst and .pab files in the restored folder - it showed
the files I was looking for. For some reason, they showed up when I did a
search but not when I was directly looking for them. I don't get that, but I
copied the files to a different location and was able to open them in Outlook
and restore the data.

Yeah!

Thank you and I hope this helps if someone else has the same problem.
