Cannot Change Default Dictionary

I just installed Office 2007 Pro and I'm stuck with French as my dictionary.
I noticed this with the first posting I did to a USENET Newsgroup. All of a
sudden, words like "you", "such" and "like" were being flagged as
misspelled. My dictionary is now set to French and I am not a French
speaker! I cannot find any option to get the dictionary set to good old
American English! for that matter, I could live with "colour" for "color" a
lot better than what I now have.

Help! I'm rapidly losing what little of my mind I have left!

Thanks for trying, but I don't see how this applies as it is dealing with
Beat and RTM versions . . . unless these problems were never corrected. My
version is not RTM or Beta, but a full fledged copy. Further, I dis not have
office 2003. I was using Office 2000. This article deals with Office 2003.
