Cannot check in project file

I did some work on user names, now I cannot check in the
project that user had from either the desktop or from the
admin (does not appear checked out). I have tried to
delete the project but it tells me its checked out. How do
I get rid of this project?

Once a name is added it is difficult to change it. Once projects are
created and assignments are made with the user name the software will
not know to that "John Doe" has now become "Jonathan Doe". It is best
not to change a name.
