Cannot close Excel

I cannot close ANY Excel document with Upper-Right X
Button. Nothing happens or once pressed, the X greys out.

When I click "file" "exit" to exit Excel, the "save as"
window pops up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling
Office - same results.

Do you have Groupwise installed?

If so

This has been an issue for all versions of Excel since 97
