to their mail host. You didn't mention WHICH type of e-mail account you
have (POP, IMAP, HTTP, Exchange).
What happens when you try to telnet to their mail host?
telnet <pophost> 110
or
telnet <imaphost> 143
Do you see a welcome line? Can telnet find that host?
"stopped receiving e-mail". And how do you know? Are there e-mails
waiting in the Inbox when you use the webmail interface to your e-mail
account? Is there an error message in Outlook for the mail session?
