Cannot connect to OLAP Server.

Hi,

Is it at all possible to have the MsProject Web server sit on one
server and connect to a different SQL Server and then have a separate
analysis server to connect to.

We did a sandbox implementation where everything was installed on the
same box... and it all worked fine. Now that we are trying to
implement it in our current infrastructure setup we are having
problems connecting to the OLAP server.

By big question is - Can this be done? If so what do we need to do to
make this work?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey Chris,

Access is granted (we have a domain user that has full admin on both
servers and he is part of the OLAP Admin group). We also have local
users of the same name and they are part of the Admin groups.

Funny thing is that I can connect to our OLAP server through a regular
UDL file and use the OLAP Services Data Provider and see the other
projects on the server.

Does creating the MsProjectServer Analysis Services in advance of a
cube being generated help the process any? I'm just trying to
identify whether the problem we are encountering is in PWA creating
the project OR in PWA creating the cube.

It would be nice if there were some error logs to go on.

Thanks

Hi, you must be certain to install Decision Support Objects (DSO) as well as
SP3a on the Project Server Box. The Project Server 2003 small scale
implementation describes this process.

I have recently configured a two server scenario. 1. Project Server and
WSS. 2. SQL Server 2000. We are experiencing OLAP Cube Failures when being
built. Unfortunately I am coaching an install over the phone and can't see
everything. So, my assumption is that the OLAP Admin Group doesn't have
proper rights set on the SQL Server Databases. I am guessing that the OLAP
Admin Group needs access to both the Project Server and Analysis Repository
Databases.

Any help would be appreciated.
