In Project Professional 2007 from your workstation, did you create your
Project Server login account using Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft
Office Project Server Accounts? You need to give Project Professional 2007
a friendly name for your Project Server system and the URL for the system.
You should also select the "Manually control connection state" option as
well. After creating the account, you need to exit Project Professional
2007 and relaunch the software. The system will present you with a Login
dialog and then you need to make your server a Trusted Site. After that,
Project Professional 2007 will connect to Project Server and give you full
enterprise functionality. So, did you actually do all these steps or not?
I have tried to add the user via Project Server Account option in
Project 2007 client. I can setup the Domain user, but it will not
authenticate to the Project server. I added the user on the Project
site as a member of the users group in Project/SharePoint and still
did not work.
In my test domain, it is called "vdom.local". The user account in the
domain is projuser. I can log on directly to the Project server site
with the VDOM\projuser credentials. I can upload a project file to
the site successfully. I cannot open it in the web browser (still no
option to user Project on the site) not can I open the file to my
local Project client.
Further, this is a virtual test domain. I am logging into the server
console as VDOM\administrator, but am logging into
http://project as
VDOM\projuser. Due to a lack of test machine in VDOM.LOCAL, I am
forced to do it this way. I am not sure if this is part of the
problem. This seems to be a simple setup task, but due to lack of
documentation has become terribly time consuming and frustrating. Can
you point me to some documentation for Project Server 2007 for this
specific issue? I am searching for it and have not located it yet.
Thank you for your time and help and any assistance is appreciated.
