I've recently inherited an application that uses an old Access database
(compiled to MDE) for reporting.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be working with Access 2003 (which is
being rolled out to the company very soon), and was originally created with
Access 97 (although I suspect it was converted to Access 2000 format when we
went to Access XP/2002).
Unfortunately, to debug this, I need the MDB, which I do not have (and
anyone who might have it, has long since left the company).
Fortunately, the MDB had been checked into Source Safe, using the
integration that allows each table/module/query/etc. to be checked in
separately.
Unfortunately, when I try to build a new MDB from that (from Access 2003), I
get the following message:
Microsoft Office Access can't open or convert this previous version
database.
The database was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office Access.
You don't have appropriate security permissions to open or convert databases
created in earlier versions.
So I'm stuck. How can I get/recreate this MDB, if I'm getting these
problems?
After getting that error, it did still create an MDB, but it seems to be
missing things (including, to say the least, all the "Data and Misc.
Objects"). So I tried to import those from the MDE that I do have, but not
having any luck there.
Can anyone offer a suggestion as to how I can rebuild that MDB?
Thanks!
