Cannot Create New Users

D

Dave Magnell

Our project server has been running fine for months now.
We recently tried adding new users to the project and get
this message;

"The User could not be created" "Check the spelling of
the user name, verify that a valid domain name was
included, and check that a duplicate domain was not used."

Even adding a user through Project by using the "Add user
from the active directory" does not work. It finds the
name in the directory then says that it is an invalid
login. The accounts themselves work fine on the network.

A little history, this project server was setup before
the network was upgraded to Active directory.

Does any one have any ideas?

Thanks

Duplicate domains can be easy to miss - I've found this to
be the most common source of this message. If there is a
simpler way to check the User Name other than
selecting "Modify User" I haven't found it yet.

Good luck.

I'm not sure what you mean about duplicate domains, we
have only a single domain. We can modify existing users
but cannot add new users for NT authentication.

Thanks

Try having a domain admin rejoin the domain on the server and see if that
shakes something loose.
