cannot delete mail in Microsoft Outlook

Hello...I cannot delete messages in Microsoft Outlook. When I try to delete
it from the right-click menu and/or the delete button it says "The messaging
interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart
Outlook (which doesn't work).
When I try to drag e-mails to the deleted files folder, I get the message
"Can't move the items"

Any ideas?

Empty the Deleted items folder, compact the PST, close Outlook, and run the
Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe). Then restart Outlook and see if that
helped.
