Cannot delete project in PWA cleanup admin menu

I am running into a strange problem with Project Web Access.
I have a project that shows up in the "Admin / Cleanup Project Server
Database" PWA view as non-published, and I remember having deleted it
a while ago (it was a published project). If I try to delete it again
now, PWA tells me that "An error occured while completing the
operation" and the project is still showing in the list. Team members
are still sending me updates against that project and I cannot accept
any of these updates because the project does not exist anymore. Is
this a bug in MS Project Server 2003 and would anyone know how to get
past this? Thanks.

If you are using Project Server 2003 and Project Professional 2003, you can
try delete the project plan from the client application.

In Project Professional 2003, when you log into a project server and do a file
open, you'll see a list of projects. You can locate the project plan in
question, and when it is select you'll see a red 'X' at the top of the file open
dialog box that will remove it also.

If the project plan does not show up in the client, then the delete process
only deleted the plan from our MSP tables of the database, and left some
references in the MSP_WEB tables. You might want to try republishing the
project plan to the server again, and try deleting it.

Thanks for the response Matt.
I tried your suggestion of republishing the project plan, and
unfortunately it created a second copy of the same project on Project
Server. When I tried to delete it in the Admin section, the same
thing happened as with the first one. Now I have 2 copies of the same
schedule in my list of projects, both unpublished, and both
unaccessible from anywhere in MS Project Server or MS Project client
and both undeletable...
Would there be another way to get rid of this, maybe by going into the
SQL database directly? Thanks

I'm having a similar problem and the error message "An error occurred while completing the operation" when deleting planning objects through PWA. No mention of VBA in the message box though
The most disturbing thing is that the deletion works fine, ie. the planning objects are deleted..

Any explanations
