Cannot do anything after zooming - Publisher Lite on Mac

I have a Macbook (Big Sur) and Publisher Lite 1.7.8. When I zoom in or out, I can no longer select any of the elements on the page for editing. It's as though everything has been locked. I was sent a link by the support people to re-download the program. I used it but the problem remains.
I hope someone has some good ideas!
