cannot do "send to mail recipient as attachment" on any office pro

My error:
In word "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure"
In excel "General Mail Failiure. Quit Microsoft Office Excel etc etc"

i get the same thing in powerpoint aswell. I've looked hard and long and
none of the many KB support suggestions from MS have helped.

Any ideas on what else i can try?

hello....

Windows 2000 SP4, office 2003 SP1...default client is Outlook 2003.

I have also uninstalled office, cleaned registry, and then reinstalled
minimally, still no go...same error msgs...any suggestions?

one other interesting note is the the sent to for review works fine for all
three applications...which is essentially the same as send as attachment.
