Cannot double click office document

When I double click an office document, it does not open the document. It
will open the program, but not the document. I then have to go to file-Open
and open the document this way. If the document was an email attachment in
Outlook, it says it cannot find the file specified. I have to save the
file, open the appropriate program, go file-open to open the file.

Please help in this matter, as it is driving me crazy!!!!

Jason,

I have a similar problem only when I double-click the .doc file from the A:
drive or other removable media drive. Word starts to launch, but then hangs
and I get a message that Word is not responding. If I drag the document to
the desktop or to my C: drive, double-clicking opens Word fine.

If I open Word, then use the File Open command or icon, I have no issues. It
is an aggravatinjhg problem and I do wish I could solve it. My IT department
is stumped.
