I recently switche from using Outlook Express to Outlook and can no longer
send emails to any AOL address. All my other emails go out fine but if I
send to an AOL address, it comes back to me. Our computer guru is no help.
It must be something in my settings, but what?

How many AOL recipients are in one distribution list? AOL
for some months now, in their effort of reduce spam to
their subscribers, has kept track of the number arriving
from one ISP to their subscribers during a 24 hour period
and during ten minute segments. If the number exceeds their
limit the entire ISP is blocked.

Finally, after a convesation with my ISP, it was determined
that the only solution was for me to:
1. Get a fixed IP address
2. This required a business account (Whoa! 4 Mbps down load
speed)
3. I had to apply to the ISP to be recognized as a bulk
mailer and agree to their standards for quantity during
various time of day.

Once the bulk mailer application was approved my mail again
was able to reach my newsletters 488 AOL subscribers.

Thanks Chuck for the info but I don't think this is my problem because I send
few are far between emails to AOL accounts. We have been considering going to
a static IP though. This one has all our computer "experts" dumbfonded. I
appreciate your reponse.. Thanks, Pat

What does the error message say?

It says: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
The following recipient(s) could not be reached: Could not deliver the
message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your
administrator. I have no clue... how about you? Have you ever seen this
happen? Thanks, Pat

sThanks for your response...but I do not use a signature in my mail. My
test mail comes back as 'undeliverable' 'your message did not reach some or
all of the intended recipients.' ' Could not deliver the message in the time
limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator'....?? No one
seems to have a clue as to what it could be. ...Thanks, Pat

This means your provider is having problems making a connection with AOL's
mail servers. Contact your provider and see if there are any tweaks they can
make that will fix the problem.

Hi Adam, thanks again for your response... our adminstrator has already
looked into this and has not been able to help. Everyone else in our company
is using Outlook Express, as did I until a little over a month ago, when I
switched to Outlook. Everyone else can send and receive from AOL addresses
using the same adminstrator, except me. I can receive from AOL but not send
to... Which is a problem, as many of our customers have AOL addresses. Our
computer guy says he wants me to switch back to Express but I really don't
want to do that. Any other ideas?.... Pat

Hi Jeff, I have created the file but I do not see how to attach a file to
this post. Any email that I send to an AOL address does not come back
immediately, sometimes it it the next day. So the file is not a small one.
Please advise. Thank you, Pat

1) Use a real newsreader instead of the web interface.
2) use copy/paste to include it in the body.

Thanks Brian but I don't know what you mean about using a real newsreader....
and I was asked to send my info as an attachment not copy and paste. Our
computer guy is asking me to not post the info at all, even as an attachment.
Thanks anyway. ...Pat

Outlook Express, Forte Agent, and Xnews are all names of real newsreader
applications.
and I was asked to send my info as an attachment not
copy and paste.

However, as long as you use the web interface to the newsgroups, it's
impossible to attach. Your only choice is copy-and-paste.
Our computer guy is asking me to not post the info
at all, even as an attachment.

So change any site-specific information in the file like machine names or IP
addresses prior to posting.
