A
Access97User
I opened 2 different Access databases at the same time;
actually 1 is my local machine (a copied of the currently
opened network database). Both database names are
identical (copied by Windows Explorer).
I created a new report and made changed into my local
copied, after I successfully tested the new report, I move
the new report into the network database by using the
import feature within the currently opened network
database (within another currently loaded instant of MS
Access application).
Then I opened an existing form (in design mode) in the
network database, probably this form were run by more than
1 user at that moments. I made few minor changes (added
new buttons, modified form code), then tried to save these
form changes.
MS Access gave me a warning about an error but provided 3
options ('Continue', 'Ignore', 'Cancel'), I
selected 'Ignore'. Form changes were saved. I retested the
updated form and created new report (within the network
database). So far, so good.
I informed my users about this new report and adviced them
to reopen the network database.
By some unknown reasons, my database now contained a
reference to my local datatabase, when users try to do
anything that required built-in functions or macroes,
Access keeps trying to access a 'C:\SomeDatabase.mdb' and
fails to work.
I just placed an empty database with the same name as the
one in my local machine in my users' machine (at the same
path), and the network database works normal.
Have anyone ever encountered or heard about this kind of
problem?
This is definitively a built-in error within MS Access
application (and/or) Microsoft libraries.
Thanks in advance for your assistance
