Cannot insert MPEG video

Marty

When I try to insert an MPEG video in Powerpoint 2000 file, all I get is a
black box. I can insert an AVI version of the same file. Other users in my
area can insert the MPEG on their systems with no problem, so Iknow the file
is not corrupt. Any idea what might be causing the problem?

Is this MPEG2? Does the system have a decoder installed like WinDVD
or CyberDVD?

I do not know if it is MPEG2. I was using Roxio to recode some of the files;
other MPEGs were sent to me and I don't know their origin. Being new to
this, I am not sure how to tell MPEG vs MPEG2.

If I were in your shoes, Marty, I'd just grab PFCMedia, let it convert and
insert your video, and be done with it. http://www.pfcmedia.com -- there's a
fully functioning 2-week trial download available.

I did read about that option, and installed. Now I have issues getting that
program to run, and am working with the developers to see if they can help.
I think thre must be some conflicts in my system that prevent mpg files from
working correctly.

Wow, you've got some serious stuff going on, then. I'm glad you're trying
PFCMedia, because if it doesn't want to run (without any effort on your
part, which is the usual situation), then I'm sure we would have truly
struggled to get the MPEGs inserted into PPT in general.

The people (Austin) at PFCMedia have been great, and I am now able to import
the video in a format that always works. I've learned a lot in this little
adventure...
