Cannot insert picture in One Note

M

Marla Gaspard

Hi,
I'm trying to insert pictures in One Note and nothing is appearing. I'm
going through insert/pictures/from file. What am I doing wrong?

Which way do you try to insert the images?

Insert/Pictures/From Files. But I've noticed that when I get to from files
and I highlight the picture I want to insert, the name does not show up on
the file name line. I hit insert, the dialog box disappears and the picture
does not come up.

Really strange. I have no idea what might cause this ...
Anything with the rights for the directory holding the files?

As a workaround - until the cause of the problem problem will be
detected - you can use the Windows Explorer with drag+drop into the
notebook.

No, the rights are mine. Thanks for the workaround. I really appreciate it.

No, it doesn't.

A true mystery!

Let's try to narrow down the problems:

1.) Which type of image files is this about?
All types of images ore only some?

2.) Which picture-handling software are you normally using for working
with images?
Do the images in question show there without problems?

3.) What happens when you use the Windows Explorer (outside ON) and
double-click on a file?

Let's hope we may get closer ...

I am having the same issue. I can't insert a picture, create a screen
clipping, copy and paste.

What version of OneNote are you using? What happens when you try? Have
you activated the product? (Help Menu)

2007 SP1
it is activated
nothing happens, i have tried different picture formats and none work,
if i try to make a screen clipping, it inserts a hyperlink, but no
picture,
can't copy and paste, it gives me the option but nothing shows up\
tried deleting all printers and started over, no luck,
used the add-remove in control panel to repair, didn't help

am i the only one with this problem?

It seems that your ON is seriously corrupt.
As you tried "repair" already, I would see no way but *uninstall* ON and
then run the
"Windows Installer CleanUp Utility"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us
and then re-install ON again.

Can't say. But I cannot recall to have seen too many postings on this
issue (except the one from Marla Gaspard who opened this thread and did
quit without a final feedback).

As you have a bug, you may post a report in "Connect", the place for
submitting
suggestions and bug reports to the developers team:

When done, pls drop a note with the URL in here so that others can jump

She'll observe the expected behaviour, that's for sure. The open file
dialogs in Microsoft Office are something special. I would expect that Marla
will observe the same "strange" behaviour in all of the Microsoft Office
applications on her computer.

But this is not a problem. Usually you have two options to select the file:
By double-clicking the file, - but this works only, if the highlighted
command in the context menu of the file is "Select" -, or by typing the file
name in the correspondent combobox . In the latter case you don't have to
type the complete file name; once you start typing, the combobox displays a
drop down list from where you can pick the desired file name.

Ricco.
