Cannot install ACCESS 97 on Win XP Pro SP2 !

Hi,

I need to install Access 97 on my PC because I have several important
databases ( data & much code) that we have not been able to convert to
Office XP

I had it installed on my SP1a system, but had the bizarre idea to switch to
SP2 ( full new install) and allways get two messages when install :

- one at end of install complaining that it cannot create the system.mdw
group. This I have solved by restoring system.mdw from an image of my C:
drive under SP1a. That worked ( at least administrator utility is happy)

- second I get when I try to launch Accss 97 : not enough memory ! ( I have
2 Gigs)

I had used the trick with renaming hatten.ttf to something else before
install, then rename back. But here it doesn't work : hatten.ttf allways
reappears ( although I have disabled system restore ( at least I think so ))

Help would be appreciated : these databases are important !

Not sure about your first problem, but the second one is because the initial
release of Access 97 had a problem with 1 GB or more of memory, and the
error produced that misleading error message. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=161255 for details, as well as link to
where to get the necessary patch.

In fact have installed service releases 1 & 2 ( had overlooked I had them)
Now OK !
Thanks
